Overview
The Phlebotomist III- Float represents the face of our company to patients who come to CLIENT, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The Phlebotomist III- Float draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The Phlebotomist III- Float has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner. The Phlebotomist III- Float is responsible for providing coverage at multiple locations for multiple roles and ensuring that daily activities of the Patient Service Center/Mobile/Long Term Care/In-Office Phlebotomy are completed accurately and on time. The Phlebotomist III- Float demonstrates Leadership Behaviors with a focus on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information. Successful applicants may be assigned to work and direct daily activity in a doctor’s office, a patient service center, in a house call environment, long term care, or as business needs dictate. The role may require stepping in for a Phlebotomist III- Float and leading one or more PSR on site, acting as coach, mentor, instructor, or resource advisor for new employees and providing onboarding services to new clients. They will also act as the point of contact to staff on site and provide regular input to the group lead or supervisor. The Phlebotomist III- Float may focus on high-complexity or high-volume practices requiring outstanding phlebotomy skills and enhanced customer-facing communication, problem solving, and collaboration with multiple functions such as Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT connectivity, Billing, and Logistics. The role requires the capability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
Responsibilities
- Draw quality blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures.
- Provide coverage at multiple locations and ensure daily activities of PSC/Mobile/Long Term Care/In-Office Phlebotomy are completed accurately and on time.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors, coach and mentor staff, and onboard new clients and employees as needed.
- Serve as a communications liaison on site and provide input to group leads or supervisors.
- Work with high-complexity and/or high-volume practices requiring advanced phlebotomy skills and customer-facing abilities.
- Collaborate with multiple functions (Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT connectivity, Billing, Logistics) as required by the practice.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
- Five years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum 3 years in a PSC/IOP environment preferred.
- Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
