Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

The University of New Mexico-Gallup Branch, Education, Health and Human Services Division, seeks to hire temporary part-time faculty to teach face-to-face courses listed below, based on departmental need:

  • PBT 101 Phlebotomy Technician (8 crs)
  • PBT 102L Certified Phlebotomy Technician Clinical (4 crs)
  • HCHS 101 Phlebotomy (1 cr)

UNM Gallup is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque. Branch colleges respond to the unique needs of their communities by offering community education programs, career and technical education including certificate and associate degree programs, and transfer programs that prepare students for upper division entry into colleges and universities.

The Education, Health and Human Services Division at UNM Gallup Branch is seeking qualified temporary part-time faculty members to teach lower division classes in various courses or topics as specified above. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they teach, including meeting face-to-face, conveying content, developing assignments, grading, reporting grades, and assessing student learning as outlined by the division chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates selected for these positions will report to the division chair.

Wages and Best Consideration

Adjunct Faculty are compensated based on credentials and credit hour course loads as follows:

  • Terminal Degree, plus 12 hours College teaching: $1,100.94 per credit hour
  • Terminal Degree, less than 12 hours College teaching: $1,056.70 per credit hour
  • Master Degree, plus 12 hours College teaching: $1,017.60 per credit hour
  • Master Degree, less than 12 hours College teaching: $1,017.60 per credit hour
  • Bachelor\'s Degree, plus 12 hours College teaching: $1,017.60 per credit hour
  • Bachelor\'s Degree, less than 12 hours College teaching: $1,017.60 per credit hour
  • Applied Tech, experience at Journeyman: $1,017.60 per credit hour

Best Consideration Dates: For best consideration please apply by these dates: October 15, 2024 for Spring 2025 Semester; January 31, 2025 for Summer 2025 Semester; May 31, 2025 for Fall 2025 Semesters.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current New Mexico and/or National Phlebotomy Certification
  • Completed 12 college credit hours in health science related courses
  • Demonstrated ability to work with groups in a collaborative atmosphere

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in health sciences or related field
  • Current New Mexico and/or National Phlebotomy Certification or higher certification in a health-related field
  • One year of teaching experience
  • Knowledge of education methods as well as current certification procedures
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
