Position Overview
Role: Certified Phlebotomy Technician (various levels) within the Lab/Phlebotomy service line. Reports to the Phlebotomy Supervisor or General Laboratory Supervisor. The role includes routine and STAT phlebotomy, specimen processing, and assisting with routine clerical duties, filing, and telephone reception. This position serves both inpatients and outpatients of all ages.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and STAT phlebotomy for inpatients and outpatients of all ages.
- Process specimens and assist with routine clerical duties, filing, and telephone reception as directed.
Required Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Certificate which meets current California standards.
- High school graduate or equivalent, or above.
- Ability to demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the duties of the role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload and establish effective working relationships across the Health System.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of practical experience as a laboratory assistant or completion of a phlebotomy program.
- Knowledge of University and medical center policies, procedures, and forms.
Physical Requirements
- Proficiency with computer keyboard usage.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in a clinical laboratory with various instruments and potentially hazardous chemicals.
