Certified Phlebotomy Technician CPT II - Clinical Lab

Overview

• Department: Laboratory
• Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Mon-Fri, 7:45 am - 4:45 pm, every other weekend and rotating holidays
• Facility: Healing Arts Pavilion
• Location: Plainfield, IL 60586

Responsibilities

• Perform skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages to obtain blood specimens for analysis in the clinical laboratory under supervision of Laboratory Director/Manager/Supervisor
• Perform computer data entry, filing, telephone communication and other clerical duties
• Demonstrate knowledge of laboratory test terminology and communicate with patients and visitors in a polite and friendly manner
• Demonstrate proper phlebotomy technique and use of equipment for newborns to geriatric patients
• Process specimens for microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry and blood bank; process specimens for referral to reference laboratories
• Stock and order routine supplies; maintain cleanliness of storage areas, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers and work areas
• Process or load specimens on automated laboratory instrumentation in accordance with policy and procedures
• May assist with picking up samples at hospital/OR, sorting samples for analysis, putting away samples, and assisting pathology
• May work across multiple departments or night/graveyard shifts
• May perform point-of-care testing after training and documented competency
• Other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
• Current and valid state certification as a CPT preferred
• BLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained current
• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience, required

Pay Transparency

Saint Joseph Medical Center - Joliet offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. Total rewards include paid time off, a 401K, medical/dental/vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and other benefits. The compensation range for this role is $16.80 to $24.33 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined at hire based on factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials and licensure.
