CPLC LUCES is hiring for a bilingual Promoter HIV Tester to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona!

CPLC LUCES (Latinos Unidos Contra El Sida/Latinos United Against Aids) provides HIV prevention education and supportive services to people living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS to improve health outcomes, reduce health disparities, and address barriers to treatment.

Free, confidential HIV rapid finger stick testing is offered Monday-Friday at CPLC Maryvale Community Service Center and other locations in the community. Vouchers for free testing at a local Sonora Quest, Albertsons, or Safeway location are also available for individuals with transportation barriers.

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Promoter HIV Tester provides direct covered services to individual clients and coordinates with community support and stakeholders. They manage appointment schedules and their assigned caseload. The Promoter HIV Tester navigates patient medical services, conducts needs assessments, implements treatment plans, facilitates referrals, and participates in ongoing PREP/PEP Navigation learning experiences.

Most importantly, the Promoter HIV Tester provides non-judgmental, unconditional support to a diverse population, including the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Educating clients about HIV and STIs, linking to care and resources, providing on-site/off-site testing to the community are their main priorities. They provide counseling, support, and guidance to newly diagnosed individuals upon delivery of positive diagnoses.

COMMUNITY-BASED ROLE

Must have valid Arizona driver’s license and automobile insurance as required in the State of Arizona. Must be willing to travel utilizing an insured personal vehicle throughout Maricopa and Pinal County. Work is performed in structured environments and different settings including but not limited to office, home-based, off-site community based, and off-site clinic based.

This role also requires engaging with community stakeholders and partners during community testing events and assisting with the coordination and execution of testing activities during community testing events. This role is expected to attend primary medical care appointment with clients when needed.

SPECIALIZATIONS

Knowledge, and continued education, of the following are key to being successful in this role:

  • Rapid Start PrEP, U=U
  • Ryan White healthcare system, Maricopa County and ADHS healthcare resources
  • HIPPA and maintaining client confidentiality in discussions of HIV/STI testing process
  • Interdisciplinary care coordination, monitoring of health outcomes, and social service delivery
  • Dynamics of HIV/STIs, mental health, substance use and understanding of community resources in order to assist clients in securing resources and services
  • Data collection systems such as Healthvana, MS Excel, MEDSIS

Minimum Qualifications And Competencies

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a field related to case management such as social work, nursing, public health, or other human services related field highly preferred
  • Two years of comparable professional knowledge, skills and abilities that documents experience with working with HIV-positive or high-risk individuals
  • Driver's license required
  • Phlebotomist certification preferred
  • Prior experience as a phlebotomist technician a plus
  • Adept at venipuncture, phlebotomy, and fingersticks required
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and skilled at educating clients about HIV/AIDS and other STDs
  • Able to work a flexible schedule as needed per program requirements
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish skills REQUIRED. Must be able to communicate to Spanish-speaking clients, considering the importance of knowing & communicating medical terminology in both languages.
