Water Treatment Operator/ Water Tester (Atlanta, GA)
We are seeking a skilled Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our team and ensure safe, efficient, and compliant wastewater treatment operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) processes, strong technical troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety, environmental standards, and teamwork. Location: Atlanta, GA 30349
Salary Range: $27.33/hr
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, engines, generators, valves, mixers, conveyors, blowers, centrifuges, and chemical feed systems.
- Monitor flow meters, gauges, and programmable logic control (PLC) systems to ensure compliance with operational and permit requirements.
- Perform sampling and testing of wastewater, sludge, and gases; adjust processes based on results.
- Prepare chemical solutions, service automatic samplers, and perform required laboratory testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational and process problems within established procedures.
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and records of operating conditions.
- Conduct preventive and minor maintenance, including lubrication and adjustments.
- Respond to chemical spills and operational hazards, using proper safety and emergency procedures.
- Perform manual labor as required, including cleaning equipment, facilities, and grounds.
- Operate plant vehicles and equipment safely for operational purposes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Georgia Class III or higher Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s License.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English (operational, process, safety, and quality instructions).
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of PPE (respirators, gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.).
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 50–60 lbs), and work in varying environments, including confined spaces and inclement weather.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a science or technical field.
- Experience working in a Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) wastewater facility.
- Working knowledge of project management and process improvement methods.
- Familiarity with computer-based process control programs and data entry/reporting.
