Job Title: Part-Time Strength and Conditioning Coach

Position Type: Part-Time, Stipend

Position Summary

Sweet Briar College, a women’s liberal arts college with a strong academic reputation and a commitment to excellence in athletics, is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Part-Time Strength and Conditioning Coach. This position is responsible for designing and implementing safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs for student-athletes across all varsity sports. The coach will work closely with coaches, athletic trainers, and student-athletes to enhance athletic performance while reducing injury risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for all varsity athletic teams.
  • Instruct student-athletes on proper lifting techniques, conditioning, recovery, and injury prevention.
  • Collaborate with coaches and athletic trainers to customize programs based on sport demands and individual athlete needs.
  • Monitor and record progress of student-athletes and adjust training programs accordingly.
  • Supervise workouts in the weight room and ensure safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment.
  • Provide occasional educational programming related to nutrition, performance, and wellness.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Current certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC).
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  • Prior experience working with athletes in a strength and conditioning setting.
  • Strong communication, motivational, and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience working in a collegiate athletics environment.
  • Understanding of the unique dynamics of a Division III athletics program.

Work Schedule & Compensation

  • Approximately 10-12 hours per week, including mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends based on team needs.
  • This is a part-time position compensated with a stipend, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
