Assistant Coach – Strength & Conditioning (part-time)

Description: As a member of the Department of Athletics, Physical Education, & Recreation, the Assistant Coach – Strength & Conditioning (part-time) will assist the Director of Sports Performance with all facets of the program. Responsibilities include designing and instructing comprehensive and sport-specific strength and conditioning programs, as well as ensuring facility and equipment maintenance.
The Assistant Coach – Strength & Conditioning will support the mission and values of the college and department, adhering to all institutional, Centennial Conference, and NCAA policies. The role requires collaboration and effective communication with student-athletes, coaches, and staff, prioritizing student health, safety, and well-being.
The anticipated term for this position is 20-25 hours/week for the spring 2025 semester, with a renewable 10-month contract starting in August 2025.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in developing strength, speed, flexibility, and agility programs for assigned teams to enhance athletic performance and reduce injury risk.
- Instruct student-athletes on proper weight-lifting techniques and assist with testing and evaluation to monitor progress.
- Develop off-season training programs for winter and summer to maintain training when away from campus.
- Ensure compliance with Swarthmore College, Centennial Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or Director of Athletics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health/Exercise Science or related field.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience, preferably with teams.
- American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
- Current NSCA CSCS and/or CSCCA SCCC certification.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, including weekends.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions
This role involves sitting or standing for long periods, moving about facilities, demonstrating exercises, and handling equipment such as weights.
