Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Engineer) – Baltimore Area

Pearce Services/Unified Power is seeking a Critical Power Field Technician to support on-site preventive, corrective, and restorative maintenance of critical power systems (UPS, DC systems, inverters, PDUs, STS, and standalone reserve battery technologies). This role requires a customer-focused approach, strong technical skills, and the ability to quickly develop solutions for our clients.

Core Responsibilities

  • Install electrical equipment such as small rack-mounted UPS equipment, batteries, and UPS/battery monitoring equipment.
  • Maintain Battery Cabinets and racks, Maintenance Bypass, Battery Monitoring Equipment, DC Systems, and other electrical equipment.
  • Perform remedial services, including failure analysis, troubleshooting, component replacements and repairs, and battery string installations.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships; effectively upsell products where appropriate.
  • Field troubleshooting calls from customers to a satisfactory resolution.
  • Respond promptly to critical situations.
  • Teach and mentor crew members on site work, troubleshooting, repair, and data analysis.
  • Isolate hardware, software, and interface malfunctions using test equipment on multiple products and technologies.
  • Adapt to evolving duties based on business and client needs.

Core Experience

  • Prior military training in electronics or avionics (A School, AIT, etc.) preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a third-party critical power field service or technical support role with demonstrated progression in technical proficiency, OR five (5) years in an OEM service environment in the critical power space.
  • Good understanding of AC/DC electrical principles.
  • Knowledge of test equipment operation (multimeters, battery test equipment).
  • Ability to read and interpret electronics schematics and troubleshoot to the component level.
  • Experience enforcing FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations and standards.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and senior-level judgment in fast-paced environments.

Physical/Work Environment

  • Compliance with OSHA and applicable DOT standards; valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record if operating a company vehicle; pre-employment drug screen required.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds for short durations; kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel for multiple days with per diem as projects require.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks while maintaining 100% safety awareness.

Base Pay Range: $40–$50 USD per hour.
