Position Summary
Acts as an assistant or head coach for a sports team and assists the Athletic Program Director in carrying out assigned responsibilities. Provides activity supervision, training, and coaching to student athletes as assigned. Actively works to ensure the fulfillment of team, department, and school goals within their sport.
Position Objective
The primary goal is to teach and promote the glorification of God through the pursuit of excellence in athletics. Additionally, the coach is charged to use leadership, supervisory, and teaching skills to promote the development of the individual program and all student-athletes.
Spiritual Requirements
Coram Deo Academy hires individuals that profess the historic Christian faith. The Nicene Creed describes the minimum understanding of and subscription to Christian belief required of employees of the Academy. Head Coach Responsibilities
- Ensure implementation and maintenance of standards and procedures as outlined in the CDA Coaching Manual and Athletic Culture Guide.
- Procure game officials, facilities, AV equipment, and necessary seasonal equipment.
- Provide professional development to reporting coaches fostering moral values, work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidence.
- Maintain discipline and work to increase morale and cooperation within the athletic program and school community.
- Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training for individual and team success.
- Update knowledge of technical aspects of the sport and continue learning new ideas.
- Schedule all games, tournaments, and practices.
- Ensure maintenance of uniform and equipment inventories.
- Collaborate with the Campus Athletic Director and faculty/staff.
- Support athletic policies with parents and players.
- Report issues, concerns, or highlights to the Athletic Director regularly.
Assistant Coach Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing athletic objectives.
- Care for equipment and facilities.
- Supervise athletes and teams.
- Attend all contests and practices.
- Instill discipline, work ethic, respect, and perseverance.
- Emphasize safety and injury prevention.
- Conduct self and teams ethically during contests and practices.
- Instruct players in rules and new developments.
Qualifications
- Dedication to the Christian faith and Christian approach.
- Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Academy.
- Coaching and/or playing experience in the sport.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Work in challenging environments with deadlines and diverse contacts.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting and exerting effort.
