JOB SUMMARY: As an Abbey Resort associate, you will have the opportunity to be part of an incredible team at an all service resort situated on the beautiful shores of Geneva Lake. BASIC FUNCTION: To perform the manual tasks associated with the maintenance, construction, and improvement of the resort grounds. This includes the operation of a wide variety of power equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma
- 2 years of horticulture landscape experience, associate degree preferred
- Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment related to all aspects of grounds maintenance
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Experience using a variety of landscape equipment including but not limited to: zero-point turn mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, augurs, pruners, tree saws, loppers, snowblowers, shovels, and salters
- Ability to identify and control weeds
- Ability to identify plant material
- Ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Must be at least 18 years old
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with landscape maintenance, restoration, and design
- Planting a variety of ornamental plants
- Properly prune plants, shrubs, and trees
- Perform mulching, weeding, deadheading, watering, fertilizing
- Ability to identify pests and diseases and use proper IPM methods
- Daily trash removal
- Seasonal rotation of plant material
- Snow and ice maintenance
- Ice rink installation and maintenance
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
- Comply with policies and procedures.
- Communicate daily with staff and other departments in regard to duties and activities.
- Responsible for department and equipment cleanliness, safety and appearance.
- Required to perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
- Scheduled hours may vary on business needs and may or may not include holidays, weekends, various shifts, overtime or reduced hours.
