Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery used in construction, excavation, roadwork, and site preparation. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to workplace safety.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and forklifts in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform site preparation, excavation, grading, trenching, and material handling as directed.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic preventative maintenance.
- Follow project plans, blueprints, and grade specifications to ensure accuracy.
- Work closely with site supervisors and crew members to complete projects on schedule.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, OSHA standards, and safety regulations.
- Report equipment malfunctions, hazards, and maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain clear communication with team members to ensure efficient workflow.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Proven experience as a heavy equipment operator in construction, excavation, or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL license a plus.
- Heavy Equipment Operator certification or relevant training strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of equipment operation, safety practices, and job site procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grade stakes.
- Good physical condition with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
