Waste Connections of New York is hiring: Heavy Equipment Operator in Saint Cloud

We are looking for a Equipment Operator to join the team at JED Landfill in Saint Cloud, Florida. Previous landfill or waste experience would be a huge plus.

Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 7pm and every other Saturday 5:30am – 3pm.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance around the site and facilities as needed
• Perform general labor duties around landfill
• Assist with landscaping duties
• Walk on slopes and pick up paper
• Work in all weather conditions
• Will be trained to operate heavy equipment and to drive a semi tanker

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Outdoor landfill setting; work near moving mechanical parts; exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
• Areas are clean, ventilated, and well lit

Minimum Job Requirements

• 2+ years of heavy equipment operator experience
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to read and write
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
• Basic computer skills to email and scan documents
• Ability to analyze repeating situations and make basic decisions
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs repeatedly
