ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Heavy Equipment Loader Operator, you will skillfully operate a rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with a front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop. Your primary responsibility will be to efficiently lift and transport bulk materials to and from designated storage or processing areas.

WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE:

  • Begin operations by starting the engine, shifting gears, and maneuvering the loader using pedals and steering. Utilize levers to lower and tilt the bucket, driving forward to engage with bulk materials.
  • Once the bucket is filled, raise and tilt it to allow for smooth dumping at the designated work site.
  • Adhere to assignments as directed by supervisors while following standard operating procedures to ensure safety and efficiency. Your work will be periodically inspected for adherence to these standards.
  • Maintain consistent communication with supervisors and clients to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Conduct Pre-Shift Inspections to verify all systems are ready for daily operations.
  • Regularly inspect and ensure the proper functioning of gates, drive belts, conveyor belts, troughs, and return rollers.
  • Be responsible for maintaining site cleanliness, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored securely after use.
  • Perform daily checks on the Water/Boiler and air systems, adhering to established startup and shutdown procedures.
  • Weekly, provide upkeep by vacuuming the batch plant office, emptying trash, and cleaning bathrooms.
  • Ensure greasing of all plant areas weekly to keep equipment in top working condition.
  • Inspect bearings and ensure all components of the batch plant are operating effectively.
  • Monthly, assess the Dust Collector's performance to guarantee proper functioning.
  • Quarterly, check oil levels in gearboxes and examine all associated drive belts.
  • Participate in annual oil changes and the updating of all associated drive belts.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Minimum of 12 months experience operating 980M/982M loaders.
  • Previous experience in heavy equipment operation, construction, or paving is preferred.
  • Basic mechanical maintenance skills are essential.
  • A strong safety record is required.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • A high school diploma or GED is necessary.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is an advantage.
