ABOUT THE ROLE
The Heavy Equipment Loader Operator is responsible for operating a large rubber-tired vehicle with a front-mounted bucket to lift and transport bulk materials efficiently. Your role is essential in ensuring that materials are moved to and from storage or processing areas safely and effectively.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH:
- Start and operate the loader by managing engine functions, gears, pedals, and steering.
- Use hydraulic levers to manipulate the bucket for loading and unloading bulk materials.
- Perform duties following supervisor guidance and standard operating procedures, with periodic inspections for safety and efficiency.
- Conduct routine maintenance on the loader, including lubrication, fueling, and cleaning.
- Ensure effective communication with supervisors and customers regarding service operations.
- Perform daily pre-shift inspections of the batch plant to ensure optimal operation.
- Inspect and maintain all various gates, drive belts, conveyor belts, and rollers for functionality.
- Handle cleanup at the batch plant and secure all tools and equipment after use.
- Conduct regular inspections of water, boiler, and air systems, adhering to proper start-up and shutdown protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness in the plant office by performing weekly cleaning tasks.
- Weekly greasing of all areas and inspection of bearings within the batch plant.
- Conduct monthly inspections of the Dust Collector to ensure it is operational.
- Quarterly checks on all gearbox oils and drive belts.
- Participate in annual maintenance activities, including oil changes and belt updates.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- At least 12 months of experience operating 980M/982M loaders.
- Previous experience around heavy equipment, construction, or paving is preferred.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and maintenance skills are required.
- A proven record of safety in the workplace.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds comfortably.
- High school diploma or GED is necessary.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
