Job Description

We are hiring immediately for a Security position. The Community Life Coordinator (CLC) is a full-time, non-exempt position of Denver Rescue Mission (DRM). The CLC reports directly to the Manager of Community Life and the Director of Community Life Services and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the shelter and the activities that take place therein.

Responsibilities

• The CLC is responsible for the security and safety of the facility and residents during their shift. This includes control of drugs, alcohol, or other hazards, which could jeopardize the purpose of the Mission or its clients.
• Handle situations that jeopardize safety of the Mission and its occupants; manage difficult and unruly clients; ensure occupants are free from drugs, alcohol and weapons.
• Support outside guest welfare by calling police or ambulances or opening chapel for shelter from the elements.
• Enforce facility rules and assist in implementing disciplinary actions in cooperation with the Next Step Manager and team.
• Maintain the dorm to the established standard (monitored through the daily walk-through).
• Help train residents for their assigned job duties and necessary soft skills (mostly on-the-job style training).
• Understand role in daily running of the Mission, including shift focus: cleanliness, bed check-in, and facility safety.
• Other tasks as assigned by the Shelter Supervisor and Director of Community Life.
