Hardware Engineer – Reality Labs (Sunnyvale, CA)

Contract: 1 Year (with potential extensions)

Location: Hybrid (Sunnyvale, CA)

Paid Time Off: 15 days

Compensation: $80–$90/hr

About the Role

Insight Global is hiring a Hardware Prototype Engineer to join one of the world’s leading technology companies within its Reality Labs division. This team is pioneering the future of Augmented, Mixed, and Virtual Reality, building next-generation wearable electronics.

You’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and testing high-density hardware systems, contributing to cutting-edge prototypes that shape immersive experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and modify high-density rigid/flex boards and system integrations.
• Rapidly prototype using available lab resources.
• Drive ambiguous, multi-path projects toward clarity and execution.
• Evaluate and bring up systems involving SoC, sensors, wireless, audio, display, and interfaces (USB, MIPI, PCIe, SPI, I2C).
• Review and approve layout plans and product prototypes.
• Write detailed functional specifications and design tradeoffs.
• Support new technology introductions and system integration.
• Collaborate with software teams to evaluate hardware/software interfaces.
• Provide training and support to designers and users.
• Lead and direct technicians and support personnel as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong fundamentals in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with high-density rigid/flex board design and system integration.
• Hands-on lab skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity in complex projects.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and comfort reviewing software logs/code.
• Understanding of core technologies: SoC, sensors, wireless, audio, display, USB, MIPI, PCIe, SPI, I2C.
• Experience using automation to improve project quality and scalability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in consumer electronics development.
