Job Description
Develops the overarching technical strategic roadmap. Ensures reuse and technical excellence of engineering solutions and components. Collaborates with key stakeholders from execution and support teams to ensure a common implementation of strategy and to promote technical knowledge in the area of Electronic Control Unit (ECU) Hardware (HW) components.
Owns deliverables and processes based on the key area assignment of ECU Hardware components. Documents and maintains the Bill of Design (BOD) imperatives and the controller supplier benchmark library. Works with the technical community to develop technology roadmap solutions. Leads an innovative culture across controllers, including Record of Invention submissions. Establishes strategies for reuse across all control modules. Proposes new technology ideas and projects and provides technical support. Develops solutions to meet requirements in collaboration with feature owners. Initiates epics and provides necessary information for decision-making. Supports enterprise sourcing strategies and business models. Participates in supplier quality support processes as needed. Fosters communication and knowledge sharing between regions. Mentors engineers through investigations and consulting. Embodies GM's Core Values and Winning Behaviors. Hybrid role: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote, reporting to the local office.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field. Employer accepts 3 or 4-year degrees.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Hardware Engineer, Technical Specialist, Software Engineer, or related role.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with electronics circuit design and testing, ECU systems development, hardware design and simulation, PCB estimation, microcontrollers, microprocessors, eMMC, DDR, requirement management tools like DOORS, automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, BroadR Reach), project documentation, testing and debugging tools, EMI/EMC design, connected automotive technologies (V2X, CV2X), and FMEA.
