As part of our Camera Technologies group, you’ll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last. You’ll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. You’ll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we’ll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras. The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for the design, development, and innovation of camera hardware for all related Apple products. Our target is to deliver superior camera hardware to enable best-in-class camera user experience. We are looking for an enthusiastic, high energy individual who can help us with tomorrow’s challenges.
Key Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years relevant industry experience. High-volume consumer electronics system experience preferred.
Experience with schematic capture and PCB design using Cadence Concept and Allegro or similar CAD tools.
Design and simulation experience with Hi-speed serdes (MIPI, Displayport, HDMI, PCIE, etc).
Broad experience with both analog and digital circuits, e.g. small signal conditioning, low noise power supply, high-speed and serial control interfaces.
Strong knowledge of layout strategies for Rigid PCB, Flex, and Rigid-Flex including material selection, Stack-up planning, EMI minimization, signal integrity, noise suppression and design for manufacturing, testing and reliability (DFM, DFT, DFR).
Comfort and ability to use all types of electronic test equipment such as Oscilloscope, VNA, spectrum analyzer, electrical loads and signal generators.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Command line interface and scripting skills.
Statistical data analysis and visualization (ex. JMP) is a plus.
Description Determine component requirements, and develop schematic designs for innovative camera modules components containing image sensors, microcontrollers, low-noise power supplies, AF/OIS drivers, and high-speed serial interfaces. Analyze circuit parasitics and tolerances to ensure correct operation over the specified voltage and temperature ranges. Direct layout and/or supervision of layout for PCB, Flex, and substrates. Debug EE issues, including power quality, high-speed signal integrity and I2C interface performance. Author clear and comprehensive electrical test documentation for manufacturing partners to complete test and validation. Collaborate with multi-functional teams to simulate, test, and validate performance of all designs. Develop electronic prototypes for new camera features and product concepts.
Education & Experience BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or industrial experience equivalent.
Additional Requirements Knowledge of CMOS image sensor, ISP or image processing is desirable.
Familiarity with camera and optics technology.
Occasional travel will be required.
Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900 and $256,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
