Overview
The Digital Hardware Engineer II formulates design concepts for digital engineering problems. They also lead internal technical assignments, monitor project scope, and respond to engineering concerns. This role must be onsite in Huntsville, AL.
Responsibilities
- Develop hardware designs for space-grade and high-reliability modules, including component selection, schematic capture, design constraints, and layout oversight.
- Lead initial hardware bring-up and testing to ensure hardware performance meets requirements and specifications.
- Identify and resolve hardware issues during development and post-production.
- Collaborate with software, firmware, manufacturing teams, and other engineers to integrate hardware and software solutions.
- Create detailed documentation for designs, testing procedures, and other relevant information.
- Optimize designs for performance, reliability, and cost.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a specialized functional discipline
- OR six (6) years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
- OR no experience required in lieu of a Master’s degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Design experience with ARM or Intel-based microprocessors
- Proficiency in schematic capture with Siemens DXDesigner or Altium Designer
- Experience with high-speed interfaces (e.g., PCIe Gen 3/4, 10 GbE, 40 GbE, 100 GbE, DDR4)
- High current/low voltage switching power supply experience
- Experience collaborating with embedded software/firmware engineers to verify and integrate hardware with FPGA and software functionality
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills for cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
- Experience with Hyperlynx SI/PI
- Experience in radiation-hard or high-reliability design
Additional Information
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware controlled by ITAR or EAR U.S. export laws. As a condition to this job offer, you must be able to obtain a U.S. Government export license(s), as required by law.
- Pay Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually. Actual pay within the posted range may vary based on location, job function, education, and experience.
