Overview
Job Profile Summary
Under limited supervision, the College Recruiter will plan, develop, and facilitate student recruitment programs/events and college readiness workshops. This position will be assigned by regions throughout the college’s feeder area and will establish relationships and plan recruitment events with high schools, community agencies, and business entities within the assigned region. The role implements recruitment activities identified in the college’s enrollment management plan and collaborates with campuses in planning and implementing recruitment events such as open houses and career success summits.
This position allows eligible veterans and their spouses to claim Veterans’ Preference pursuant to Florida Statute 295. Certain servicemembers may be eligible for waivers of postsecondary educational requirements in state employment and are encouraged to apply. Minimum Education & Experience
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Minimum Experience/Training:
Four years of related/relevant experience, preferably in student recruiting/admissions.
Essential Functions
- Daily - 35%: Coordinates and facilitates outreach for recruitment purposes to community agencies, businesses, high schools, GED/Community centers, etc. Responsible for prospective student follow-up and communication to resolve potential barriers.
- Daily - 15%: Advises prospective students on academic and career opportunities at Broward College. Inform and refer students to campus and community resources as needed.
- Daily - 15%: Provides students with information and resources to prepare them for post-secondary education and career opportunities; monitors/tracks student progress.
- Daily - 20%: Assists campuses with engaging student prospects and applicants through the enrollment process.
- Daily - 10%: Develops, coordinates, and executes seminars, workshops, and events to communicate strategies for improving students’ college readiness. Coordinates with Marketing to design recruitment materials.
- Other - 5%: Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Fully proficient in professional and functional standards and protocols of the position.
- General understanding of the College's structure, policies and practices, and the impact on the area; knowledge of Federal and State laws.
- Expertise in understanding and following project plans, including coordinating multiple resources and activities.
- Ability to exchange information with individuals and collaborate with colleagues; strong presentation skills.
- Requires advanced knowledge of computerized systems and operating environments.
- Ability to interact and effectively communicate with employees and the student population.
- Familiarity with higher education enrollment management principles.
- Strong public speaking skills.
