The Forest at Duke is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support our team and contribute to driving HR excellence.

Overview

The Forest at Duke is a continuing care retirement community that has provided a caring, responsible environment for residents for over 30 years. As an HR Generalist and a Forest Team Member, you will support this mission by providing HR functionality in benefits administration, employee appreciation and recognition, employee relations, talent acquisition, onboarding, orientation, performance management, FMLA, leave, and workers’ compensation. This position also provides collaborative human resources partnership that enhances our team member experience.

Responsibilities

Participate in or lead HR activities across the following areas:

  • Benefits administration
  • Employee appreciation and recognition
  • Employee relations
  • Talent acquisition and onboarding
  • Orientation and performance management
  • FMLA, leave management, and workers’ compensation
  • Partner with department leadership and cross-functional teams to improve HR processes and follow through on tasks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. A combination of relevant education and experience can be substituted in place of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience in healthcare or senior living environments.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP certification preferred or commitment to obtain within 12 months.
  • Hands-on experience in the listed HR areas (benefits, recognition, employee relations, talent acquisition, onboarding, orientation, performance management, FMLA, leave, workers’ compensation).
  • Experience supporting a diverse workforce of hourly and salaried employees.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills at all organizational levels.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and HR analytics for data-driven decision making.
  • Ability to partner effectively with department leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to improve HR processes, ensure follow-through on tasks, and manage multiple HR functions.
  • Mission-driven commitment to healthcare and senior living excellence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR technology platforms.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (preferred).
