Job Overview
The HR Generalist serves as a business partner to advise leaders on HR-related matters. The HR Generalist assists the HR Business Partner with all HR activities within an assigned territory or functional area, including proactive and reactive employee relations (ER), change management, policy interpretation and guidance, legal compliance, HR training, investigations, compensation, data management, and teammate engagement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Business Acumen and HR Service Delivery: Possess working knowledge of the business and cross-functional operations to support leaders on people decisions. Partner with HR centers of excellence to deliver value-added service and align the HR function with the organization's purpose and values. Serve as a trusted advisor.
- HR Business Partner Support: Assist with general teammate inquiries (compensation, payroll, benefits). Provide feedback on policy and program roll-outs. Participate in engagement action planning with operational leadership and facilitate positive teammate relations and development training.
- Cultural Advocate: Embody the organization’s purpose and values. Conduct regular facility visits, engage with teammates, and organize Share A Coke meetings to address needs and concerns. Facilitate training and development programs.
- Employee Relations and Performance Management: Provide guidance on policy interpretation and compliance for non-exempt and exempt teammates. Maintain case management systems and assist with investigations (union and non-union). Address complaints and grievances, including harassment, EEOC, and NLRB matters.
- Talent Management and Succession Planning: Analyze HR and business data to identify needs and forecast trends. Propose proactive plans to attract, retain, and grow highly engaged talent aligned with culture and values.
- Legal Compliance and Risk Mitigation: Partner with the legal department as needed and respond to complaints and grievances promptly. Identify trends and support organizational changes with a focus on risk mitigation.

- Physical ability to walk through various facilities (sales branches, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, service centers)
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge acquired through 1 to 3 years of work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Four-year degree in Human Resources, Business or Management
- Valid Driver’s License
- SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification
Work Environment
- Office environment with exposure to some warehouse and manufacturing settings (noisy conditions, extreme temperatures)
- Up to 50% travel across Ohio (primarily) and the Consolidated footprint
