Overview
The HR Generalist manages the daily HR operations in the areas of recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, record keeping/systems, and compliance with HR policies and employment laws in a multi-state environment. This position maintains a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information and situations and promotes a positive and inclusive work environment. This highly organized position thinks systematically, responds quickly and accurately, and manages deadlines in a dynamic environment.
The HR Generalist navigates between Canteen One being its own sub-sector while utilizing our parent company resources and policies to accurately accomplish tasks and requests. This position upholds the values of the Human Resources Department, including People-Focused, Confidential, Customer Service, Partnerships, Technology, Strategic, Accuracy, Compliance, Can Do, and Reliable.
Essential Functions
- Recruitment and Onboarding
- Performs all aspects of recruiting: requisition, posting, applications, reference checks, assessments, background checks, manage internal recruiting portal, internal notifications, offer letters, candidate notifications, etc.
- Performs all aspects of HR onboarding: orientation schedules, internal notifications, candidate communications, manage internal onboarding portal, paperwork and forms, HRIS, I-9 forms/E-Verify, welcome kits, HR orientation and benefit meetings, etc.
- Handles employment-related inquiries and requests from applicants, associates, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff/resource.
- Works directly with the manager and our temporary contract agencies to fill temporary labor needs.
- Updates Job Summaries and Job Descriptions.
- Manages internship program with partner organization, and conducts regular training sessions.
- Assists with communicating and implementing HR initiatives and projects.
- Utilizes parent company resources and procedures appropriately to accurately accomplish tasks.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Human resources coordinator or generalist experience strongly preferred
- HR experience at a multi-unit/state organization
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR designation strongly preferred
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated on-the-job knowledge of the human resources field
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations, benefit products and entitlements
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Experience with HRMS/HRIS, and time and attendance tracking systems
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, decision-making and time management skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills; advanced skills preferred
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
- Strong presentation skills
