Delaware Valley Job Corps Center (DVJCC) is an education and training center located in Callicoon, NY. The program focuses on helping 16–24 year olds through independent living and employability skills. Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and technical support to the Center's Human Resources function.
- Analyze human resources policy and procedures, determine applicants' eligibility, and use judgment and discretion to resolve issues while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Follow integrity guidelines and ensure no manipulation of student data.
- Post vacancies with internal and external sources and determine applicants' eligibility.
- Perform searches for qualified candidates using databases, networking, internet recruiting resources, cold calls, media, recruiting firms, employee referrals, and job fairs.
- Maintain files of employment applications and resumes; screen applicants for work history, education, training, skills, and compensation needs; schedule interviews with hiring managers.
- Evaluate applicant qualifications for specified licensing according to guidelines and codes; administer pre-employment tests.
- Conduct reference and background checks on final applicants; maintain applicant flow log; complete weekly reports on employment activity.
- Explain and enroll employees in benefits programs; verify and complete enrollment forms; maintain enrollment documentation.
- Collect and maintain HRIS data and reporting information; reconcile monthly insurance and drug screen billing.
- Assist department heads in developing staff training and orientation programs.
- Process new-hire paperwork and maintain accurate employee files in both personnel files and HRIS; assist with conducting new staff orientation.
- Type reports, memoranda, and other text; proofread for grammar and accuracy.
- Support employee recognition programs and mentoring initiatives; monitor staff mentoring programs.
- Provide training on student sexual harassment identification and prevention as needed.
- Deliver high-quality supervision and management for the student population; take appropriate action to influence student behavior and hold students accountable.
- Ensure quality programs and services for students; strive for continuous improvement of programs and services.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; contribute ideas to group efforts and provide timely information to DOL/Company when requested.
- Collaborate with staff from all departments to ensure effective supervision and services for students.
- Accept supervision and direction from Center leadership and be willing to cover other departments as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate of Arts degree from an accredited school preferred.
- Minimum of two years of human resources experience required.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Human Resources Certification preferred.
