Overview
Coordinate human resource activities for the facility and aid the Human Resource Manager and HR Dept in programs to support employees.
This is a Salary Non-Exempt Position.
Responsibilities
- Support HR Manager in carrying out HR programs and perform diversified clerical and administrative activities. Assists in learning and training programs, including new hire orientation. Input new hire and termination data into the system. Maintain all hourly personnel and confidential files. Track daily attendance of hourly employees. Make files on all newly hired team members. Record changes on all employee status as necessary (e.g., change of address, departmental transfers, rate increases, terminations). Process and record information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, and attendance. File paperwork and upload all documents associated with Federal programs and mandates. Serve as a point of contact for employees.
- Employee Support Establishes effective working relationships with employees and leadership in the facility. Works in an environment of the highest confidentiality, honesty and integrity. Maintains the support and guidance of the HR department as a HR representative. Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized people. Maintains and distributes current employee information, policy and procedure manuals, and other communication. Conducts short orientation to explain benefits.
- Processes information in HRIS systems Verifies time information from managers and supervisors weekly to ensure proper processing of pay. Maintains employee information in HRIS systems. Follows up with managers to ensure proper accuracy of attendance records are being kept. Performs data entry in HRIS systems.
- Assists in general HR responsibilities for the facility including staffing and support. Maintains appropriate levels of staffing and assists in other employment activities, including providing necessary support for the job bid process, processing employment applications, requisition management, hiring and transfer process, interviewing, and directing the new hire process when needed.
- Participates as a member of the Team Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters cohesiveness regarding major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes. Identifies areas lacking cohesiveness and works with the team leader to resolve issues and reinforce actions to achieve synergy within the organization.
- Simmons Operating Systems principles and objectives Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN). Understands responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems, including communicating concerns and improvement ideas.
- Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives This position description is intended to guide activities and is not intended to limit the work or creativity of the role.
- Physical Activities Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicates with customers, vendors, or employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail. May present information to small or large groups. Must be able to work in various temperatures. Move about in a manufacturing environment and surrounding property.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) As required by the visiting facility.
- Travel Travels domestically to and from multiple facilities or work-sites.
Qualifications
- Technical Experience: 1 year experience in human resources, thorough understanding of Human Resources policies and laws. Proficient use of Microsoft Suite.
- Industry Experience: Preference for food processing organization.
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in HR Development, Organization Development, Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, IO Psychology or related degrees, SPHR Certification.
