Human Resource Generalist
The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources department. This role serves as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries, manages core HR processes, and ensures compliance with employment laws and company policies. The HR Generalist partners with employees and management to foster a positive workplace culture and drive HR initiatives that support organizational goals. This is a contract opportunity located in Elgin, IL.

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources department. This role serves as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries, manages core HR processes, and ensures compliance with employment laws and company policies. The HR Generalist partners with employees and management to foster a positive workplace culture and drive HR initiatives that support organizational goals. This is a contract opportunity located in Elgin, IL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions and HR-related issues. Provide guidance on company policies, procedures, and benefits. Support employee engagement and retention initiatives
- Coordinate the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding.
- Conduct background checks, I-9 verification, and orientation for new hires
- Assist with benefits enrollment, open enrollment planning, and communication. Address employee benefit inquiries and support leave management (FMLA, PTO, etc.)
- Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS systems. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Support workplace safety and regulatory requirements
- Process payroll or provide payroll support as needed. Generate HR-related reports and maintain data accuracy
- Support performance review processes, training initiatives, and employee development programs. Coordinate and deliver ongoing training to reinforce compliance and company culture.
- Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures. Ensure the employee handbook reflects current practices and legal requirements
- Participate in HR projects, support employee events, and assist with office administration as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of HR experience (generalist or related role)
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., UKG, ADP, Workday) and MS Office Suite
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

- Pay is $30-$35 an hour, depending on experience
