Overview

Job Summary: As a Cashier you will be the face of our company. You will highlight our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services. You must be capable of learning about what we sell and articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful, and professional manner. Maintain a positive and outgoing attitude that enjoys serving others and making a positive impact on the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: Proactively engage and connect with customers; ask questions and listen to their needs; direct customers to merchandise and inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card; provide premier customer service; build positive, inclusive, respectful relationships and take accountability for actions and outcomes; maintain organization and the checkout area appearance; move and restock bags, packaging materials, and labels.
  • Sales: Interact with customers to ensure they find what they need; make suggestions on latest trends and current promotions based on individual needs; operate a Point-of-Sale system including cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit/debit cards; handle cash and return accurate change; maintain change funds and sales receipts; complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
  • Inventory: Be the keeper of merchandise, complete all inventory processes, ensure merchandise is checked in and accurately ticketed; may participate in periodic inventories.
  • Dependability: Adhere to assigned work schedule with accurate and complete follow-through on work assignments.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Product Knowledge: Knowledge of Point-of-Sale systems; retail or relevant work experience preferred but not required; strong communication skills.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents; ability to communicate with customers, peers, and management; proper telephone etiquette.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic math functions; ability to use a calculator and calculate percentages; ability to make change in American monetary units.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to multi-task, be attentive to customers, and stay flexible to business needs; ability to work as part of a team and take initiative with or without direct supervision.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position involves constant movement, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May require stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision includes close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve lifting at least 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs in some departments. Work typically performed indoors but may be outdoors depending on location.

Education

No Experience Required. High School Graduate or Equivalent Preferred.
