Job Summary
Serves as a working leader at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property, responsible for leading and inspecting the work of team members in housekeeping duties and ensuring program standards are met. Performs the full range of housekeeping services including cleaning guest rooms, public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, and exterior spaces. Uses hand and powered cleaning equipment in performing duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- As working leader, oversee and communicate information/instructions from the supervisor/manager to Housekeeping Attendants. Assist in training new associates, explain policy/procedure changes, and ensure work schedules are followed. Keep supervisor informed of work status and problem areas.
- Train and demonstrate proper work methods; implement efficient cleaning and maintenance methods; ensure cleaning materials and linen are available; perform the same work as the team when needed.
- Maintain information on housekeeping work performed by room, occupancy, and dates; maintain continuity in absence of supervisor.
- Greet and welcome guests, maintaining outstanding guest relations.
- Conduct daily inspections of rooms, carts, common areas, and laundry facilities; maintain written documentation of inspections.
- Ensure privacy and security of guests at all times.
- Manage storeroom and storage area inventory; determine and order cleaning supplies and amenities as needed.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and accounted for; distribute amenities and linen; perform monthly/quarterly inventories as required.
- Handle guest and staff suggestions and complaints; resolve problems or refer to supervisor as needed.
- Perform the full range of housekeeping services as described above, including handling and transporting linen and supplies; operate cleaning equipment as required.
- May set up and break down the complimentary self-service breakfast bar; assist with breakfast item preparation, display, and replenishment; obtain proper food handling certifications as applicable.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment; apply blood-borne pathogens safety measures; follow NHG protocols during daily service activity.
- Perform and inspect laundry operations at the facility.
- Possess a valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities as required.
- May be required to support operations during inclement weather or emergencies in the absence of the supervisor.
- May need to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment and other certification requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- No Experience Required.
- Preferences: High School graduate or equivalent; 6 months housekeeping experience; leadership or training experience.
