Job Summary

The primary goal is to keep buildings neat and clean at all times. This guide outlines the basic duties and responsibilities required to maintain the effectiveness of building cleanliness. Staff will perform necessary tasks to ensure optimal cleanliness in all serviced buildings or worksites.

Essential Functions

1. Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using industrial equipment.
2. Uses ladders, dusts, washes walls, ceilings, light fixtures, and replaces blinds.
3. Moves furniture, boxes, and equipment for cleaning purposes.
4. Removes stains from various surfaces using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
5. Performs seasonal tasks like leaf raking, grass cutting, snow removal.

Carpeted Areas

• Empties waste baskets, dusts furniture, vacuums carpets, and spot cleans as needed.
• Washes windows and sweeps/mops tile floors.

Lunchroom/Break Areas

• Maintains cleanliness of tables, chairs, vending machines, and sinks.

Restrooms

• Empties waste, sanitizes fixtures, and refills dispensers.

Non-Carpeted Areas

• Performs general cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, and dusting.

Miscellaneous

• Maintains janitor’s closet and equipment.

Knowledge and Skills

• Basic janitorial knowledge helpful.
• Good communication skills required.
• Neat appearance and punctuality necessary.

Education and Work Experience

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 6 months of janitorial experience desired.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Includes office and shop environments, exposure to dust, odors, noise, and physical activities like lifting up to 50 lbs.
