Job Summary

The basic job requirements, duties, and responsibilities aim to keep buildings neat and clean at all times. These minimum requirements serve as a guide for maintaining buildings effectively. Staff will perform necessary work to maintain an optimal level of cleanliness in every building or worksite serviced by FlagShip.

Job Description

Essential Functions

• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using industrial equipment.
• Uses ladders, dusts and washes walls, cleans ceilings, dusts and polishes light fixtures, and replaces blinds.
• Moves cabinets, furniture, crates, and equipment for cleaning.
• Removes stains using chemicals and cleaning solutions; performs seasonal tasks like snow removal or yard work.

Carpeted Areas

• Empties waste baskets and replaces liners.
• Dusters and vacuums carpets, spots cleaned as needed.
• Washes windows and sweeps/mops tile floors.

Lunchroom/Break Areas

• Empties waste baskets, wipes tables, cleans appliances, and mops floors.

Restrooms

• Empties waste baskets, cleans and sanitizes fixtures, mops floors, and refills dispensers.

Non-Carpeted Areas

• Empties waste baskets, sweeps and mops tile floors, dusts and cleans surfaces.

Miscellaneous

• Maintains neat janitor’s closet and equipment.

Knowledge and Skills

• Basic janitorial duties knowledge preferred.
• Good listening and verbal communication skills.
• Maintains a neat appearance; uniforms may be required.
• Attends training and safety meetings.
• Understands client needs and is punctual.

Education and Work Experience

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 6 months of janitorial experience in commercial facilities desired.

Work Environment

• Office environments of various sizes; safety glasses required for certain tasks.
• Moderate noise level; exposure to dust, odors, fumes, and cleaning products.

Physical Demands

• Requires standing, walking, sitting, and handling objects; occasional lifting of 40+ pounds.
• Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
