Job Title: Janitor

We are hiring immediately for full-time Janitor positions at Johnson C. Smith University, located at 100 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC 28216. Online applications are accepted only.

Requirements: At least one year of prior janitorial experience.

Pay Range: $13.00 to $14.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Maintain cleanliness and order in buildings by performing heavy cleaning duties such as floor cleaning, rug shampooing, wall and glass washing, and rubbish removal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Dispose of trash following approved procedures and infection control plans.
2. Dust and damp mop floors following procedures.
3. Move equipment and furniture for cleaning and restore them to proper placement.
4. Clean assigned areas using appropriate materials and equipment, sanitize all surfaces, and follow the eight-step cleaning process.
5. Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other items to ensure a clean environment.
6. Identify areas needing cleaning and take initiative to complete tasks.
7. Complete all tasks assigned by supervisors in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines.
8. Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors; shampoo carpets.
9. Contribute to team efforts and exhibit professionalism.
10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
