This position provides support in the Boards and Commissions unit in the Office of the Governor, with a primary focus on assisting with the appointment process.

Example of Duties:

  • Supporting Director and Deputy Director with administrative duties
  • Drafting of correspondence
  • Communication with constituents from all over Alaska, primarily via phone and email
  • Providing assistance with constituent inquiries and requests
  • Filing, electronic and hardcopy document management
  • Managing daily calendars and scheduling interviews

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The successful candidate for this position must have:

  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to analyze, interpret, prioritize, and process complex information
  • Considerable knowledge of office practices, procedures, organization and filing systems
  • Strong familiarity of office equipment including scanners, copiers, printers and Windows PC Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Writing, composition and editing skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent and overlapping tasks
  • A courteous and professional demeanor
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Strong understanding of working in a confidential environment and ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement in evaluating information and understanding the ramifications of actions taken
  • Ability to adapt and function independently and cooperatively in a professional, fast-paced working environment
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability and enthusiasm
  • Other duties as assigned
High School diploma or equivalent AND two years administrative or clerical office experience
