The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is looking for an Airport Police & Fire Officer 5 / Deputy Chief of Operations to help us Keep Alaska Moving! Overview

The Airport Police and Fire Officer 5 (Deputy Chief-Operations) at Anchorage International Airport (ANC) Police and Fire Department is responsible for overseeing and managing law enforcement, Aircraft Rescue Firefighting, rescue operations, hazardous material response, EMS, code enforcement, safety, and general emergency response functions to protect and care for those traveling to and from, as well as working at, ANC. This role includes managing staffing, equipment, and the provided budget to ensure readiness and response capabilities. The Deputy Chief will make recommendations for departmental policy changes and is empowered to interpret and enforce department policies and procedures to fulfill the mission. This position is responsible for the administration and management of up to 54 employees, including 12 APFO leads, 41 subordinate officers, and a Criminal Justice Technician. The incumbent may also assume responsibility for managing and directing the entire department, including the Airport Communication Center, and associated administrative duties, in the Chief’s absence. Responsibilities

Responsibilities include overseeing and managing law enforcement, Aircraft Rescue Firefighting, rescue operations, hazardous materials response, EMS, code enforcement, safety, and general emergency response functions; staffing, equipment, and budget oversight; policy recommendation and enforcement; administration and management of up to 54 employees; and potential assignment to manage the entire department in the Chief’s absence. Qualifications

Certification by the Alaska Police Standards Council 13 AAC 85.010 State of Alaska Fire Fighter I certification State of Alaska Fire Fighter II certification Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting certification Valid driver’s license

(AS 28.15.011) Bloodborne Pathogens Training (OSHA) Must meet firearms qualifications Must meet Department physical requirements Possession of, or eligible for reinstatement of, an active police officer certificate issued by the Alaska Police Standards Council or reciprocal eligibility under 13 AAC 85.060 as determined by the Alaska Police Standards Council; AND Either two years of experience as an Airport Police & Fire Officer 4 with the State of Alaska, OR five years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience certified by the Alaska Police Standards Council or an equivalent agency in another U.S. jurisdiction, three years of which must be at the supervisory command level. Additional requirements at time of hire Be a citizen of the United States Be 21 years of age or older within one year of hire Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted) Possess a valid driver’s license Special Notes Incumbents must achieve Firefighter 1 and 2 certifications within 12 months of appointment Federal and state background investigations, including fingerprinting and medical evaluations, are required as part of the selection process Ability to obtain and maintain a basic police officer certificate through the Alaska Police Standards Council; subject to comprehensive background checks and suitability determinations Special Instructions and Supplemental Information
