Schmidt Industrial Services LLC is looking for an ASME Code Fitter/Welder to join our team in Chester, PA. The role will be responsible for supporting the fabrication of heavy gauge code storage tanks and vessels that support numerous industries including defense, oil and gas, energy, chemical manufacturing, confectionery (primarily chocolate) production, and waste/waste water industries.

Responsibilities

• Produce quality welds in MIG and TIG, and be able to pass visual, PT, MT, and/or X-ray testing.
• Grind/remove scale prior to welding as necessary.
• Remove any spatter/pimples that are produced.
• Keep the welding machine clean; replace consumables on both MIG and TIG torches and determine if the machine is operating properly.
• Adjust controls for volts, amps, wire speed, etc.
• Choose correct filler metal for the job.
• Inform the team lead when welding supplies are low.
• Read and use weld gauges; know weld symbols.
• Determine required weld size prior to welding; if not provided, ask supervisor or review drawing.
• Produce quality welds in MIG and TIG; ensure compliance with required testing.
• Keep the work area neat and clean.
