Substituting is an excellent opportunity to be a mentor and help students become the best versions of themselves. Substitutes are essential in ensuring students continue to learn and grow every day. Substitute teachers may also be referred to as substitute educator, guest teacher, or relief teacher. Substitute aides may also be referred to as paraprofessionals, education technicians, teacher’s aide, instructional assistant, classroom assistant or education assistant.

Minimum requirements

• 18+ years of age
• High school diploma or GED

Substitute Pay Rates

• Teacher, including Early Childhood Education and Special Education: $140 per day
• Paraprofessional, including Early Childhood Education and Special Education: $15 per hour
• Clerical: $15 per hour

Responsibilities and job description

• Assume duties of the district employee in accordance with school district lesson plans, school rules, and Kelly policies
• Empower students to learn, and encourage classroom participation
• For long-term teacher assignments, develop lesson plans and build, administer, and grade tests and assignments
