Accounting Mangers- $85k-$105k depending on experience. 5-7 Years of property accounting experience. Third Party Multifamily Property Management required. Yardi/Entrata/RealPage experience required. The Accounting Manager's primary responsibility is to review and analyze the preparation of financial results of an assigned portfolio of multi-family properties. The Accounting Manager will also work with a group of accounting associates responsible for cash forecasting as well as reviewing and reporting on the property financial results. In addition, this position will interact heavily with various levels and departments as various outside constituents.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monthly financial statement review: Review preliminary financial statements and provide comments.
  • Bank reconciliation: Responsible for review and approval of bank reconciliations prepared by accountants for the properties that he or she oversees.
  • Assist regional managers and accountants with cash forecasts and distribution calculations, as needed.
  • Assist regional managers with sale closing pro-rations as needed - confirm information is correct prior to sending to closing agent/attorney.
  • Critical payments: Responsible for overseeing and following up with accountants on owner distributions, real estate tax payments, insurance payments, mortgage payments, etc. for all properties.
  • Audit: Assist with audit inquiries and schedules.
  • Management of staff, as applicable.
  • Assist the property accounting team with troubleshooting system issues, addressing concerns from clients, correcting errors in reporting, etc.
  • Interact with clients when setting up new properties to ensure accuracy in accounting practices at inception.
  • Assist with projects across the accounting department to leverage software, AI, and various tools that create efficiency and help to automate rote processes.
  • Ad hoc projects and tasks as needed.
  • Must have third party multi-family property accounting experience.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Possess excellent computer skills - be proficient in the software utilized for the specific property
  • Knowledge of Yardi/MRI/Real Page/TOPS /Entrata preferred
  • Able to read and write in English language in a professional manner
  • Ability to follow and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to perform cash forecasting, planning and management
  • Ability to read and comprehend financial statements
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Independent and autonomous work style
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills
  • Must possess attention to detail
  • Knowledge of business practices and principles
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
  • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality

Qualifications

  • 2-4 Years of Accounting Experience - 3rd Party Multifamily Property Accounting experience required
  • 4 yr. Accounting/Finance degree required
  • Prior management experience preferred

Working Conditions

The Accounting Manager works in an office environment. This position is hybrid and requires a minimum of three days per week in the office. This person should be able to sit for an extended period of time. This person should be able to push, pull, stoop, kneel, reach, grasp, talk, hear, climb, and lift objects up to 5 pounds with ease. This person should be able to operate office equipment such as computer/phone/fax/scanner/etc. They work normal business hours. This position will involve light travel for training and education seminars.
