Overview

Accounting Supervisor role at Liberty First Credit Union in Lincoln, NE. The position reports to the Senior Vice President of Finance and will manage and perform the tasks of calculating, posting, reconciling, and verifying financial data along with administrative duties within the accounting team. Serve the membership by addressing members\' financial needs and promoting credit union services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and perform duties associated with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and necessary tax functions in a timely manner and according to internal procedures.
  • Prepare and review financial, auditing, and accounting reports.
  • Balance, record, and summarize financial data, records, general ledgers, accounts, and bank transactions in various accounting software resources.
  • Review, investigate, and respond to member garnishment and levy requests.
  • Ensure reconciliation of and reporting of discrepancies; lead the team in filing tasks and record retention according to accepted accounting practices.
  • Serve the membership with account inquiries, requests, research, maintenance, fees, or notices.
  • Assist membership with overdraft protection programs and processes.
  • Comply with all state and federal regulations, company policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure team members obtain knowledge of all daily accounting functions and are engaged in cross-training.
  • Perform training, monthly and ongoing coaching and development, and performance assessments for assigned team members.
  • Maintain members\' confidentiality.
  • Lead the analysis of needs and changes in the accounting area to maintain and improve functions and member needs.
  • Develop an understanding of credit union history, philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures.

Credit Union Job Duties

  • Actively support sales and service culture and communicate benefits and features of products and services to members.
  • Organize, plan, and prioritize work within a team atmosphere.
  • Provide backup assistance in member services, teller services, and operations as scheduled.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Meet performance objectives and expectations (sales, quality service, reliability).
  • Complete in-house training based on required classes for this position.
  • Assist in any area as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus some accounting experience or equivalent combination of experience and demonstrated skills
  • Preferred accounting experience with a financial institution, bank, or credit union
  • Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification helpful
  • National Check Professional (NCP) certification helpful
  • Knowledge of and experience with accounting practices
  • Some leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel required
  • Exceptional organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Good decision making and prioritization skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Professional and well-developed interpersonal skills

Hours and Compensation

Hours: Monday–Friday, Saturday morning rotation. Wage: Salary exempt, negotiable based on knowledge and experience.
