SUMMARY:
The Accounting Clerk provides Vidal support to the accounting department by performing entry-level bookkeeping, accounts payable processing, and administrative tasks. This position is to ensure the accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions. This includes daily credit card portfolio activity, in accordance with credit union policies and standards.
Responsibilities:
• High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
• 6 Months to 1 year of similar or related work experience in a financial institution environment.
• College degree preferred (not required) or currently enrolled in degree program. (Preferably in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field.)
• 2 Years of Credit Union experience. (Preferred)
• Knowledge of financial transactions (i.e., deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, daily reconcilement, share draft processing, and direct payroll processing).
• Knowledge of Federal Reserve guidelines and timeframes.
• Ability to articulate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Must possess a friendly/pleasant attitude and demeanor when answering questions, explaining and enforcing University Credit Union policies and providing service to members and co-workers.
• Ability to handle detailed work.
• Knowledge of Excel spreadsheet software and word processing software.
• Computer knowledge and aptitude for accurate data entry.

- Post daily transactions and assist in recording journal entries.
- Receive, verify and process vendor invoices for payment in a timely manner.
- Prepare checks or ACH batches for review.
- Process member reimbursements and inter-departmental charges.
- Record daily credit card portfolio activity ensuring accurate posting and reconciliation of members.
- Support the reconciliation of bank accounts credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Research and resolve member transaction issues such as ACH returns, check inquires, and account adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with NCUA regulations and internal financial policies.
- Provide general administrative support to the accounting team as needed.
