Overview

We are looking for a Sr Accounting Manager for our client in the apparel industry to drive all key aspects of their accounting operations and play a vital role in ensuring financial accuracy and integrity. This role is responsible for overseeing the month-end close process, preparing financial statements, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvements in processes and controls. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, a deep understanding of financial operations in a product-driven business, and the ability to partner cross-functionally across the organization to contribute to the growth and structure of the brand’s success.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements; ensure consistency with internal and external reporting standards.
  • Manage Sales tax & use tax, business licenses, registration renewals, property tax and other taxes and fees
  • Enhance and maintain strong internal controls and process improvements; ensure internal audit compliance as applicable.
  • Serve as the accounting point of contact for cross-functional collaboration with FP&A and Operations teams.
  • Support treasury operations including bank reconciliations and weekly, monthly and annual cash forecasting
  • Maintain fixed asset ledgers and ensure appropriate depreciation policies are applied.
  • Collaborate closely with the FP&A team on annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning initiatives.
  • Provide analytical insights through regular reporting packages and variance analysis, highlighting key business trends for U.S. management.
  • Coordinate annual insurance reporting and liaise with insurance brokers on policy updates, claims, and changes in location status.
  • Manage transactions in SAP, including approving new suppliers, and reviewing and approving supplier payments in SAP, as well as offline ad hoc payments.
  • Perform and oversee inter-company reconciliations
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Collaborate with other departments and external parties to ensure financial accuracy and compliance
  • Provide any other ad hoc reporting required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA is an asset)
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a mid-sized or high-growth environment in retail, or consumer goods.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS, with experience in financial statement preparation and audit support.
  • Experience with SAP; advanced Excel skills required.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; capable of presenting complex information clearly.
  • Experience with wholesale, retail, or eCommerce in fashion or retail is a major plus.
  • Self-starter with the ability to independently build and maintain efficient reporting models and dashboards.
  • Proven ability to lead teams through change, streamline operations, and embed a culture of operational excellence.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills; thrives in a collaborative, high-performance environment.
  • Highly organized, agile, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-focused setting.

Salary: $90-100K
