Everstaff is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a great client in Mentor, OH.
The Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of a nonprofit organization, ensuring compliance with GAAP and FASB accounting standards. This role will ensure accurate reporting, audit support, and strong grant and fund accounting practices.
Pay: $70,000-$80,000

Key Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger functions, ensuring timely and accurate month-end and year-end close.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Reconcile bank, investment, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Utilize QuickBooks Online for daily accounting operations.
- Collaborate with outside service professionals including auditors, bankers, and state/local representatives.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and provide budget-to-actual analysis.
- Track restricted and unrestricted funds; prepare accurate grant reports and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
- Support annual audit processes and coordinate 990 preparation.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and compliance standards.
- Oversee payroll processing and collaborate with HR on benefits and leave accruals.
- Provide leadership to accounting staff or contractors as needed.
- Partner with program and development teams to support financial planning and reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Nonprofit experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit fund accounting principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software: QuickBooks and Sage, a plus.
- Strong skills in Excel, reporting, and financial analysis.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with grant compliance and funder reporting.
- Familiarity with federal and state nonprofit regulations.
