SECRETARY: LITIGATION -- MEDICAL MALPRACTICE (FULL-TIME)

Insurance Defense / Medical Malpractice Law Firm (Downtown San Diego, CA)

Responsibilities

• Provide litigation support for insurance defense and medical malpractice matters.
• Maintain tasks and calendars; organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Prepare and manage documents, discovery, subpoenas, and filing procedures.
• Assist with trial and arbitration preparation.
• Coordinate with attorneys, clients, and court staff; maintain professional phone and written communications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent litigation experience (insurance defense and/or medical malpractice experience a plus).
• Proficient in Word, WordPerfect, Outlook and Adobe; type at least 70 wpm.
• Excellent phone etiquette, writing, multitasking, organizational, communication and computer skills.
• Knowledge of California codes, court rules, discovery rules, medical research, court research, subpoena preparation, filing deadlines and procedures.
• Knowledge of trial and arbitration preparation.
• Highly motivated, conscientious, detail oriented, self-starter.
