Responsibilities
The Nursing Unit Secretary performs clerical duties according to the job description that contribute to the operation of the unit. Time frame may be revised with mutual agreement of unit administrator’s specific specialty areas.
- Provide clerical support on the unit to ensure efficient workflow.
- Assist in coordinating communication between patients, families, and the health care team.
- Greet and communicate with patients and visitors in a courteous manner.
Qualifications
- Work requires a high school level of educational development.
- No certification, registration, or licensure required.
- Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in routine situations.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn EPIC and other computer-based systems.
- Ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions; respond appropriately to instructions, questions, or requests for information.
- Occasional contact with patients and/or visitors to provide courtesy.
Required Physical, Mental, And Visual Abilities
- Occasionally reach and grasp objects.
- Regularly use a keyboard to interact with computer systems.
- May require long periods of sitting.
- Proofreading and/or reviewing documents.
Salary
Salary Range: Minimum $16.40/hour - Maximum $27.09/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion with a hiring authority.
