About the Team

ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly-qualified Athletic and Attendance Secretary in Colorado Springs, CO. The Athletic and Attendance Secretary at Banning Lewis Prep Academy is responsible for managing all aspects of student attendance and providing comprehensive administrative support for the athletic program. This dual-role position requires exceptional organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively, and a commitment to ensuring accurate attendance records and smooth athletic department operations.

Banning Lewis Academy is a tuition-free public charter school authorized by District 49, proudly serving the Banning Lewis Ranch community and surrounding neighborhoods in Colorado Springs since 2006. Our mission is to create a safe, positive environment that fosters intellectual curiosity and a thirst for discovery where students and staff succeed through exceptional programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all student attendance matters and facilitate delegation of attendance work of the receptionist.
  • Accurately record daily attendance, tardies, check-ins, and check-outs in the student information system.
  • Monitor attendance data, identify trends, and communicate concerns to administration and families.
  • Send daily attendance notifications to parents/guardians as required by school policy.
  • Prepare and submit attendance reports for administration, district officials, and state reporting requirements.
  • Communicate with families regarding attendance policies, truancy concerns, and excused/unexcused absences.
  • Coordinate with teachers and administrators regarding attendance discrepancies and follow-up procedures.

Athletic Program Support:

  • Serve as the administrative assistant for the Athletic Director, supporting all athletic department operations.
  • Manage athletic schedules, game logistics, transportation arrangements, and referee assignments.
  • Maintain accurate records of athlete eligibility, physicals, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with communication between coaches, parents, and administration regarding schedules, cancellations, and updates.
  • Track athletic fees, uniform distribution, and equipment inventory.
  • Help organize athletic events, award ceremonies, and banquets.
  • Prepare athletic communications, reports, and publications as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree preferred).
  • Prior secretarial or administrative experience in a school setting strongly preferred.
  • Experience with student information systems (e.g., Power School) and strong data-entry skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and accuracy in recordkeeping.
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping practices for athletic fees preferred.

  • Data Accuracy: High attention to detail in maintaining attendance and athletic records.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot scheduling conflicts, attendance concerns, and logistical issues.
  • Customer Service: Commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all stakeholders.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., athletic equipment or event materials).
  • Ability to move around campus as needed for athletic or attendance-related duties.
  • School office setting with frequent interaction with students, parents, staff, and coaches.

May require occasional evening or weekend hours for athletic events or special functions.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting hourly rate for this position is $20.00/hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

We offer the following benefits for full-time positions, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, short-term disability insurance, 10 paid holidays annually. All eligible employees will participate in Colorado’s Family & Medical Leave Insurance Program, in accordance with state law.

Paid Time Off: The amount of Paid Time Off (PTO) employees accrue is determined by both their position and the length of their employment term. Employees could accrue up to 10 days of paid time off for 10-month roles, 11 days of paid time off for 11-month roles and 15 days of paid time off for 12-month roles.

We offer several plans to choose from, with a wide range of deductibles and co-insurance levels. All plans offer in-network and out-of-network coverage and may include health savings accounts or flexible spending options where applicable.
