Coates Hall## Pay Grade:Academic## Job Description:The Department of Political Science of Louisiana State University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor position in American Politics, beginning in the Fall of 2026. Sub-field specialization is open. Pending final approval, the position will be full-time, tenure-track, with a 2-2 teaching load. Candidates should be prepared to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Political Science or related field by the Fall of 2026. Candidates with Ph.D. in hand are preferred, but we will consider those who are close to completion and will finish by the time of the appointment. An active and rigorous research agenda is critical, as well as a commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2025. Salary for the appointment will be commensurate with educational preparation and experience.Job Summary: Tenure-track position that teaches both undergraduate and graduate students, maintains an active research agenda with regular publications, and participates in departmental, college, and university service activities commensurate with rank. Job Responsibilities: Teach graduate or undergraduate courses and hold regular office hours.
