Position Summary

The Department of Political Science at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. Native American Studies affiliate faculty may teach courses such as Introduction to Native American Studies, Native American Politics, and Federal Indian Law.

Responsibilities

Affiliate faculty may teach 3-9 credit hours in courses such as Native American Studies, including Federal Indian Law, with opportunities for in-person and online instruction. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering course content, grading, providing feedback, maintaining office hours, and adhering to university policies. Flexibility to teach in person, online, or hybrid is encouraged, with sensitivity to diverse student needs.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Native American Studies or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Native American Studies or a related field; or JD plus experience in Native American law.
  • Higher education teaching experience in Native American Studies.
  • Experience working with and sensitivity to diverse populations, including students of color, LGBTQ+ students, low-income students, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English language learners.

Terms of Employment

Part-time, at-will employment on a per credit hour basis, usually semester-to-semester, without benefits. Teaching may be in person upon hire.
