Part Time Hourly Instructor - American Heart Association Courses

The Division of Allied Health Sciences is seeking Part Time Hourly Instructors for our American Heart Association courses. As a part-time AHA specialist, you work with students at a college to provide the knowledge and training they need to be successful in their chosen career. Your ability to work on a course-by-course basis offers flexibility in your schedule.

Typical duties of AHA instructors include but are not limited to:

1. Teach community & technical college students in a specific field of expertise and engage with students to help them learn.
2. Plan and execute the AHA curriculum.
3. Grade students' post-AHA exams and practical skill evaluations.
4. Properly fill out required rosters, skill evaluations, and other AHA paperwork.
5. Advise students on how to be successful in class.
6. Stay updated on innovations and changes within their course field.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Associates Degree or higher preferred.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor in BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

Experience

• 2 years of related experience in Healthcare (EMS, Nursing, etc.) preferred.
• 1-year related experience with American Heart Association classes preferred.
• Teaching experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to teach utilizing real-world experience.
• Proficiency with email and AV equipment.
• Understanding of how to utilize AHA resources.
• Demonstrated passion for the academic field and education.
