Position Summary

UNM Los Alamos seeks Temporary Part-Time faculty to teach online and/or face-to-face Native American Studies courses at the 1000 or 2000 level. This is a continuous recruitment starting Summer 2025. Positions depend on semester needs, student enrollment, and course offerings, and may be filled or eliminated each semester. Applicants considered through this requisition will be reviewed for future opportunities.

Subjects include Native American Studies.

UNM-Los Alamos, a two-year campus located about 90 miles NW of Albuquerque, emphasizes teaching excellence, offering transfer, vocational, and technical courses to local residents.

Responsibilities include all aspects of teaching: meetings, content delivery, assignments, grading, grade reporting, and student assessment as outlined by the Program Coordinator. Preference is given to candidates residing in New Mexico. Courses may be online or in person depending on circumstances.

Positions are contingent on semester needs, enrollment, and demand. Selected candidates will report to the Program Coordinator.

Wages

Adjunct Faculty at UNM Los Alamos are paid $1,017.60 per credit hour.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Meet one of the following:

  1. Master's Degree in the discipline or subfield, OR
  2. A master's degree or higher in Sociology or Anthropology plus at least 9 graduate credit hours in the relevant discipline.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Post-secondary teaching experience
  2. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success
  3. Online teaching experience
  4. Terminal degree in the discipline (e.g., Ph.D., MFA)
  5. Residence in New Mexico
