The Facilities Coordinator I coordinates, inspects, and monitors building maintenance, operations and/or service activities including grounds maintenance, housekeeping, and/or security in a district. Leads technical employees. Work requires contact with contractors and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Overview
Join the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) as a Facilities Coordinator and help keep Texas moving. This role is based in Atlanta, TX and supports facilities across the Atlanta District (counties: Bowie, Camp, Cass, Harrison, Marion, Morris, Panola, Titus, Upshur).
Responsibilities
- Assist in periodic inspections of buildings and grounds.
- Coordinate parts and building material requirements with the warehouse and vendors.
- Coordinate, inspect, and/or monitor building operations and service activities including housekeeping, security, inside painting, carpentry and/or groundskeeping at one or more sites.
- Coordinate, inspect, and/or monitor maintenance of interiors, roofing, flooring and/or associated systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) of buildings including picnic and safety rest area structures.
- Coordinate, schedule, inspect, and/or monitor work of employees, contractors and/or contracted employees.
- Enter work order information and track projects in the Automated Software System; order materials and equipment.
- Monitor building maintenance, condition of equipment and service contracts.
- Perform evaluation and assist in developing and implementing the preventive maintenance program.
- Perform routine maintenance on related equipment.
- Provide estimates of time and materials needed for each assignment.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience
6 years in building inspection, maintenance, utility systems, electrical, carpentry, painting. Experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent. Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid drivers license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Knowledge:
- Preventive maintenance methods and procedures
- Methods and procedures used in building maintenance and repair
- Utility systems including heating, air conditioning, electrical wiring and plumbing
Skill:
- Public relations for maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both internal and external
- Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems
- Safely using, operating, and maintaining applicable equipment
- Using applicable hand and power tools, equipment, and mechanical devices of the trade
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions
- Medium work: Lift up to 50 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs
- Climbing - ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffoldings, ramps, etc.
- Close Visual Acuityusing measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts
- Visual Acuitydetermine work quality/make general observations of facilities/structures

- This job has been identified as physically demanding and will require a pre-employment physical.
- Must pass a drug test prior to employment for safety impact positions. This is a Safety Impact position and will be subject to random drug testing.
