Position Summary:
The Veterinary Technician Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the veterinary team by assisting technicians, veterinarians, and other staff to ensure smooth daily operations. This position focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment, handling patients with care, and providing excellent customer service to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with patient restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Provide compassionate care to animals, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times.
- Clean and disinfect exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and surgical suites as needed.
- Restock supplies and maintain inventory in exam rooms and treatment areas.
- Monitor and walk hospitalized or boarding patients, providing food, water, and basic care.
- Assist with preparing laboratory samples, medications, and equipment.
- Safely handle and transport animals of various sizes and temperaments.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care, treatments, and observations as directed.
- Support front desk staff when necessary, by assisting with client communication and patient check-ins.
- Uphold hospital policies and standards for cleanliness, safety, and animal welfare
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior animal handling experience preferred (kennel work, shelter, veterinary, or related field).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be available for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
